Chester F. Bassetti

July 14, 1919 — May 24, 2008

Chester F. (Chet) Bassetti, of Hastings went home to be with our loving Lord two months short of his 89th birthday. Chet passed away peacefully May 24, 2008 surrounded by his family. He served during WWII with the US Army as a Technician 4th grade, Company D in the 271st infantry under General George Patton. Originally from Mecca, Indiana, Chet relocated to Hastings in June, 1963 and worked and retired from Koch Refinery as an operator technician. He loved life to the fullest and taught his children to follow in his footsteps by teaching and living love, compassion, loyalty, and respect. He was a shining example of what fatherhood is all about. Hewas preceded in death by parents Joseph and Emma Louisa Bassetti. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary; daughter Linda Jo (David) Mapes, son Chester Jr. (Diane) Bassetti, grandson Christopher (Karin) Shearer and nephew Neal (Sheila) Thompson and many dear friends. Special thank you to nurses Michelle, Jamira and Jennifer who supported his passing with dignity and respect; Mary Pat, charge nurse at Regina Nursing Home for her dedication in making sure Chet�s best medical needs and interests were taken care of and the nurses and Nurse Practitioner at the Prescott Nursing Home for the genuine friendship and compassion they exuded during his stay in the past year and to his doctors, Dr. Noreen, Dr. Olson and Dr. Orr for their compassion during his final years, months and days. A private servicewill beheld at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, Hastings on May 29, 2008. Memorials are preferred to the Am. Legion (no flowers please) 50 Sibley St., Hastings, MN 55033.
